Surfing Heritage South Africa
Surfing Heritage South Africa was founded to take responsibility for the preservation, promotion and presentation of our country’s rich surfing history and culture. We have registered a non-profit company in order to legitimize our endeavor and create a transparent national body to oversee the process of achieving our objectives.
We are curating and collecting memorabilia that has been donated or loaned to us and are building an archive of print, photo, music and film media. For those private collectors who wish to remain custodians of their historical belongings, we hope they will collaborate with us in our effort to document our history by allowing us to document their collections. Our vision is to establish a national surfing museum with presentation points in Durban, Jeffrey’s Bay and Cape Town which will be the heritage and cultural centers for the community that holds surfing; as a lifestyle and culture; in high regard.
We encourage you to become part of our endeavor. If you have information, images or artifacts that will help us build the South African Surfing story, or wish to collaborate with us on the project please contact us to begin discussions.
A comprehensive understanding about where we are going may be gained by checking our aims and objectives.
We look forward to our partnership with you in this project.
