A nine year old Addington beach boy has impressed experienced Durban surfers with his stamina, skill and enthusiasm. He is Gary Stephen, one of the youngest surfers on the beach who spends most of his time riding the waves. The Sunday Tribune, 3 January 1970.

South Africa's Sally Sturrock in action at the world surfing championships at San Diego California. Twenty eight year old Sally, a Cape Town dress factory owner, has won through to the semi finals of the championships which have been marred by poor surf.
